Budding artists with a passion to share their work but little or no exhibition experience are encouraged to apply for the Emerging Artists Program at the Grand Cities Art Fest 2011. Applications are currently available online at www.novac.org until the submission deadline on April 15. The Grand Cities Art Fest will be held on Saturday, June 11, through Sunday June 12 in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks.

Despite numerous complaints, local audiences will be subjected to the Last Annual Comedy Revue for the 28th time March 25-26. Most keep showing up apparently hoping for some comedy, only to leave baffled. “We’ve stuffed 130 in there. In honor of the Vernal (spring) Equinox on March 20, the Valley City (N.D.) State University Planetarium is offering its free monthly planetarium show “It’s About Time” at 1 p.m. March 19.
The Jamestown College 2010-11 Performing Arts Series concludes with a performance by Emily Bullock, mezzo-soprano, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, in the Reiland Fine Arts Center’s DeNault Auditorium.
The Jamestown College Choir, one of the oldest touring choirs in the Midwest, will present a concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday at St. James Basilica. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series presents Shawn Mayfield speaking in the series’ 13th season on “The City Park Foot Bridge: Restoration and Reconstruction” at 7 p.m. March 17 at the BCHS museum, 315 Central Ave. N., Valley City, N.D.
A Just for Kix Dance Competition will be held Saturday at the Civic Center. The event starts at 9 a.m. with the doors opening at 7:30 a.m. The competition will consist of 98 performances from dance teams from fourth grade and up. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students.
The Buffalo Mall’s Trendsetters will model spring fashions from the mall merchants at 2 p.m. Saturday in the mall. Mary Schwartzkopf, Trendsetters director, will be directing and producing the show through her choreography for the “March into Spring” event.
The Jamestown Classic Car Club will be hosting Racing for Scholarships, a benefit event, on Friday at the Jamestown Civic Center.
